9/7/24 Fene to Pontedeume

Well that wasn't much. We had been warned that today’s hike was difficult so we arranged to have our packs transferred. Well it was pretty much downhill all the way and much shorter than anticipated. So upon arrival, I managed to find a church and monument to visit. This is the church of St Cosmos in the parish of  which is an area under the municipality of Pontedeume. I looked St Cosmos up and it turns out he and his brother Damian were Arab physicians who converted to Christianity. They are called the patron saints of pharmacists and they never took money for their services.

The church is built in the baroque style in the 18th century and has an impressive cemetery (above ground crypts) some of which look pretty new😬

I’m pretty sure that is Mary in front of the cross which is located a bit down the hill from the church and isn’t it sad that time has added the distraction of those hideous power lines😢

Okay well this tour added enough miles to my day so that I felt okay with meeting my friend Cirila and having lunch.

That proved to be incredibly difficult as the streets of Pontedeume are packed today. It’s a Saturday and there is some celebration of the Virgen going on. Hmmm. At 3 pm the folks were drinking hard. It’s now 8:22 pm. Wonder how they all are feeling🍷🍷🍷

Took a shower, again with the shampoo from the dispenser because the soap dispenser was empty, and now I am writing this along with a glass of white wine, getting ready to call it a day.

Here’s a few more pics from my walk.

Thanks for keeping up with me❤️❤️
