Monday, Sept 16, Muxía to Santiago

 I didn’t post anything actually yesterday but it is Tuesday morning and I am waiting for my roommate to wake up. 

Monday we got up REALLY early and caught the bus from Muxía to Santiago. The bus pickup point had changed because of the Blessed Mother festival (yes, carnival rides and all) in town. We got super lucky finding the alternated stop because the directions we had been given by the police (tourist office wasn’t open) we, to say the least, sketchy and all in Spanish. We stowed our backpacks in the side trunk of the bus, squishing them into the space with about 15 others, and climbed aboard. 

For the 1.5 hour journey through the dark on the twisty roads, I marveled at the bus driver’s prowess! We arrived safely in Santiago and had so much time we decided to go next door to the train station to procure our tickets for Wednesday’s trip to Madrid. The tickets would not go on sale until 9 am we were told so off we went in search of breakfast. Found a cafe and enjoyed coffee, juice and the most amazing yogurt and museli mixture!

Of the dinner I had last night! Yum Iberic ham, eggs and potatoes. 

By the way, there is no ketchup in this town ……interesting that they have “French” fries but no ketchup. Hmmm I wonder what most natives put on their fries🤷‍♂️
