September 8, 2024 Miño
I left the Albergue early this morning (8am), without my backpack. This is getting too easy. The promised first mile or so was pretty much entirely steeply uphill. Pretty sure I would have been able to handle it with the pack, albeit much more slowly.
Upon arrival at the top of that hideous hill I was treated to several miles of wonderful level and some gradual downhill. The views were wonderful and pastoral. No place for cafe however.
The trail even passed through a golf course:
Before I forget, remember the partying I told you about that went on yesterday? In honor of the Virgen? Well things were quieter this morning but here is a photo of the aftermath:
Too much fun huh? As you can see, workers are hard at it picking up the refuse.
After a nice, level walk I was again treated to another rather steep uphill before i came to an oasis on the Camino. Here I found the only cafe establishment, complete with an aseo. I enjoyed the best Spanish tortilla I have had this season, a fresh squeezed OJ and a great cuppa Joe for breakfast. The place was crowded with pilgrims and there was only one person, the proprietor, I assume, to serve us but she did a bang up job!
Cirila caught up with me there and after a bit we strolled down into Miño. We arrived at our hotel La Terrazza around 1pm and were able to check into our quiet and well equipped room.
After a bit of a rest we headed out for dinner and found a place that was actually serving full course meals at the unheard of hour of 3:30pm! We split a salad normal (no tuna) and a plate of grilled salmon and French fries.
After finishing we walked down to the beach and spent an hour soaking up the beauty and quiet.
Tomorrow we carry our packs. It’s a short trip to Betzanos and hopefully we can stay at the municipal Albergue.
Check in with you tomorrow!😌
