Sunday, Sept 15-at Muxia

Missed a couple of days, I know. Yesterday (Saturday) we walked from Finisterre to Lires which is roughly 1/2 way to Muxia which was our final goal. This stretch and the one after it made this entire trip so worthwhile! No longer long stretches of asphalt and crowds. Just plain beautiful forest!

Followed by tiny hamlets:

And bunnies

Last night we stayed at a place in Lires which was a family home, built by Jesus and Lola. It was utterly charming and located between Finesterra and Muxia. Sleep was not so good but eventually I got up and played Facebook enough to see the light of day whereby I packed up my stuff and left. Stopped at the local cafe for great cup of cafe americano with a little more ague caliente, some toast and jelly.

I had decided to leave when I was ready because my hiking buddy is way faster than me and this way I wouldn’t have to feel like I always had to catch up and she wouldn’t have to feel like she always had to wait. I don’t know what time she left but I walked for at least 2.5 hours before I saw her (or not too many others). It really was peaceful

This was the best part of my Camino this year, hands down. Check out this beautiful beach on the Atlantic!

Arrived in Muxia to find the town bursting with a fiesta! This one again had to do with the Blessed Mother. I will never understand why a feast, connected to the  Mother of Jesus, involves fireworks and alcohol. But here it does. We found our digs, hit the fiesta fairway and had a lunch of langostino Spanish style (looks good, but our is better, trust me).

So this is the end. Only one blister but a lot of achy muscles and joints. Tomorrow we try to find our way back to Santiago in order to catch the train to Madrid to explore a bit more of Spanish culture.

Nitey nite❤️
